Children’s Privacy

Version: 2026-08-27

We built Volaré so that a child’s personal information is never collected, and this notice explains exactly what that means in practice.

What We Store for a Student

For a student account, we store only a nickname the child chooses themselves, the class they belong to, and their reading progress and activity scores — which lessons and books they’ve worked through, and how they did on the quizzes and activities inside them. We do not collect a student’s real name, an email address, or a date of birth, and there is no field in the system that asks for any of those.

How a Child Joins

A child joins Volaré by entering a class code that their teacher gives them, so enrollment always happens under the supervision of an adult responsible for that child — their teacher, acting on behalf of the school, or the parent. When the child joins, the only things they set are a nickname and a password; nothing else is asked of them.

Consent

Before a teacher enrolls students, we ask them to confirm they have the authority to do so — either because they’re enrolling on behalf of their school, or because they’ve already obtained permission from their students’ parents. Where a teacher doesn’t yet have that authority, we ask them to collect signed parental consent first, using the consent form we provide, before their students use the platform. Whichever route applies, that consent is recorded with a timestamp.

No Advertising or Profiling

We don’t run any advertising or ad-tracking on Volaré, for students or anyone else. Student accounts are also excluded from analytics and from marketing email — partly by design, and partly because a student account has no email address to send marketing to in the first place.

Keeping It No Longer Than Needed

We don’t keep a student’s records for longer than they’re needed. If the subscription that a class belongs to lapses, or if a teacher archives a class, that class’s student records are deleted automatically after a grace period of 90 days. A parent or school can also ask us to delete a child’s records at any time, without waiting for that grace period to pass.

Your Rights

If you’re a parent or a school, you can ask us what information we hold for a child, or ask us to delete it. We handle these requests promptly.
